The resort has hosted a Manta Trust research team since 2019, working from a marine discovery centre on the island; the Maamunagau lagoon is a documented nursery and feeding ground for juvenile reef mantas. Guests attend researcher-led talks, join sustainably managed manta snorkelling trips and can name and adopt an individual manta. The conservation programme also covers coral restoration on rope nurseries and monitoring of turtle nests on the island's beaches.
