Kudadoo's reef begins about three metres from the residence decks, so the water is entered by ladder rather than by boat. It is a brain coral reef, a formation that has held up comparatively well to bleaching, and the drop-off between the arrival jetty and The Retreat is the stretch guides point to. Reef sharks, green and hawksbill turtles, stingrays, eagle rays and mobula rays pass through regularly, and the channel separating Kudadoo from Hurawalhi is known for its traffic.
