Because nearly all the accommodation is built over water, Vadoo's dry land is given over to landscaped gardens rather than villas - the resort describes them as English gardens set around the central part of the island. The planting is dense and mature, and one guide notes turtles, rabbits and parakeets kept in the garden area. Composted food waste from the island's digester is used as fertiliser.
