Marine Biology and Conservation
The Maldives Underwater Initiative brings together the resort's marine biologists and three NGOs: the Manta Trust on manta rays since 2014, the Blue Marine Foundation on fisheries management since 2016, and the Olive Ridley Project on sea turtles since 2018. The team has grown from a single biologist in 2011 to more than ten specialists, and works on six priorities: seagrass meadows, coral reefs, mangroves, manta sites, turtle habitats and grouper spawning aggregations. Guests join workshops, presentations and guided underwater outings, and children can follow a Junior Marine Biology programme.
