Laamu's reefs are home to reef sharks, manta rays and turtles, and the resort runs a dedicated Turtle Safari guided snorkel to find them. During nesting season guests can witness turtle hatching on the beach. Manta ray and turtle work is led by the Manta Trust and the Olive Ridley Project through the Maldives Underwater Initiative.
